will2shake gives students a fresh approach when tackling the works of William Shakespeare. shake & stir actors will direct participants through a range of Shakespeare-related activities and exercises including individual/group discussions and performances – both rehearsed and improvised. This Masterclass draws from a selection of clever techniques from shake & stir’s Shakespeare bag-of-tricks including Break It Down, The Love of Insults, No Holds Bard, Hamlet in 4 mins, Actions Speak Louder Than Words, Take 5 Shakespeare and Oh Romeo, Romeo What Was Thou Thinking?

The art of translating the pages of a book onto the stage and taking audiences on a voyage through time, across lands, to meet varied characters and encounter diverse experiences, can often be the most magical form of theatre. It can also be one of the most difficult.
Focusing on vocal and physical characterisation, this Masterclass enables students to delve into the infinite possibilities when storytelling using their instruments – voice and body. Using minimal (or no) costumes, props or sets, shake & stir’s Storytelling Masterclass highlights the power the actor has when using his/her imagination.
Masterclass includes a 20 minute performance by shake & stir theatre co followed by a series of activities and exercises.

Children are an actors most honest audience. If they love your performance they’ll let you know and if they are bored, they will most definitely let you know.
The Children’s Theatre Masterclass will equip students with the skills needed to create and stage their own mesmerising children’s theatre performance. Drawing upon years of experience the shake & stir actors have gained by working with children, Masterclass participants will acquire some invaluable techniques used to engage a youthful audience and maintain their attention.
Using an original 20 minute production of Fairy Tale Mash Up as a basis, students will witness the live performance and then be led though an assortment of activities and exercises incorporating the body and voice in a myriad of styles including physical theatre, performance poetry, music and dance.
