Merry Christmas and New Year blessings to everyone! After taking a brief break to recharge the batteries over Christmas and NY, the shake team have hit the ground running in 09! Kick starting the year with a highly successful musical theatre/film and TV workshop, the touring crew is poised to undertake their busiest year of schools touring yet! Covering the entire South East QLD area and the coast up to Cairns, more students than ever will experience a new generation of in schools performances in 2009.

oct 08 - shake your boite boite
Its official – shake & stir and La Boite Theatre Company will join forces in May 2009 to present Statespeare at the Roundhouse theatre. This production which premiered at Festival Cairns in 2008 is set to rock the socks off students and any one with an interest in Shakespeare across Queensland with some groups traveling as far as Oakey to take advantage of a performance/workshop package. Teachers, please contact The Roundhouse Theatre immediately for more info and to make your booking as tickets are selling fast!
sept 08 - USQ
As if things weren't busy enough at the bottom of the hill, a large portion of 2008 was spent travelling up and down the Toowoomba range for the purposes of directing the second year acting students at USQ in their black box Shakespeare unit. During their time in Toowoomba, the team wrote and directed the group of 20 eager young actors in 3 productions. 2009 sees the team heading back up the hill to lead a new group of students as they bring contemporary meaning to Shakespeares works.
aug 08 - bookings for season 2009 are now open
It’s that time of the year again – season launch! 2009 is set to be mighty fine for shake & stir theatre co with the introduction of two new secondary productions as well as two new primary performances. jul 08 – the shake team keeps growing
shake & stir is very happy to welcome Kathleen Iron, Jo Welke and Belinda Heit to the ever expanding teaching crew. Each of them bring a great deal of experience , talent, energy and laughs to shake & stir’s after school drama program that now caters for approximately 200 students! jul 08 – semester one holiday workshop go off
Who knew going to school on your holidays could be so much fun? Well, shake & stir’s Lights, Camera, ACTing holiday workshop – wasn’t exactly school, although many wish it was! The crew had heaps of fun teaching the extremely talented bunch of youngins Improvisation, Musical Theatre and Film & TV and the results definitely spoke for themselves. jun 08 – shake & stir’s statespeare: studying shakespeare suckeths
The World Premiere of shake & stir’s Statespeare is set to rock Festival Cairns 2008! The first main stage show for the co takes the audience into the minds of 4 high school students as they tackle their end of year assignment and the age old question, is Shakespeare still relevant? jun 08 – francesca savige steps into the spotlight with shake & stir
Experienced actress Francesca Savige completes the cast for the World Premiere of Statespeare for Festival Cairns. Francesca has been performing professionally for over 10 years having been seen in many Queensland Theatre Company’s productions including Away (and its 6 month national tour), Female of the Species and following Statespeare will appear in QTC’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Having trained at QUT and RADA she brings a wealth of knowledge to the cast - welcome on board Frankie!
jun 08 – shake & stir is now fully accredited by education queensland
shake & stir theatre co is proud to announce that each of their primary and secondary productions have been accredited and approved by Education Queensland. As a result of the accreditation shake & stir’s hugely popular production Shake Up! will be touring primary schools with Queensland Arts Council in the first term of 2009. may 08 – the team tread many boards over the next few months
It’s a busy time of year for the shake & stir crew – besides their full time school tours check out what the team are up to: Nelle is perfoming the title role in Magda’s Fascination With Wax Cats during May at the Sue Benner Theatre – Metro Arts. Nick will be singing in the new opera The Fiveways as part of the 2008 Brisbane Festival in July, written and directed by Eugene Gilfedder. Ross and Nick will be performing in Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in July playing Puck and Demetrius respectively. Come and check them out!

may 08 – shake & stir to perform as part of festival cairns 2008
shake & stir theatre co is busy in preparation as they get set to present a world premiere production as part of the official programming of Festival Cairns 2008 in late August. This festival is “a multi- dimensional line up of free and ticketed events combining sport, art, music, culture and good, old-fashioned entertainment” and will play in late August to early September. More details on this exciting new show and its cast will be revealed very soon!

After all Shakespeare was meant to be said not read! shake & stir theatre co are leading 4 teenage/adult Shakespeare-based workshops to coincide with Festival Cairns 2008 in late August.
