We know how much you young actors just want to perform so The Greenroom has been developed with your burning theatrical desires in mind. The year will be divided into 4 terms; each term the cast will discover a different genre and will rehearse a fully staged production.
That’s right – 4 productions each year!

Genres may include: Group Devised, Shakespeare, Musical Theatre, Persona, Absurd Theatre, Australian Theatre, Film & TV, Greek, Physical Theatre, Comedy and many more.

In The Greenroom, we believe you will learn through process and performance, instead of spending lessons on “drama activities and exercises” you will hone your skills through rehearsing and of course acting in each production. Parents, friends and industry members will be invited throughout the year to view you in action.

Each production will be directed by a young, professional arts practitioner, with heaps of experience.
So, if you are itching to do more acting in a high quality environment, with fellow driven and motivated young artists then apply today for one of the strictly limited spots and come hang with shake & stir in The Greenroom.

Term 1 2012

Directed by Dan Crestani

Rehearsals Commence Thursday February 9
Thursday afternoons 4 - 6pm
Venue: Brisbane’s Old Museum – Bowen Hills

shake & stir’s Greenroom is getting physical this term. But not in the Olivia Newton John spandex kinda way. This term, Greenroom students will be challenged to delve into the powerful world of storytelling relying on the body and the imagination as we create a thrilling piece of physical theatre stemming from classic text.

In the Director’s chair this term is the formidable Dan Crestani. Dan was most recently seen as Merlin in Queensland Ballet’s production of KING ARTHUR and as Snowball/Benjamin/Chicken in shake & stir’s hit production of ANIMAL FARM. Dan is one of our state’s most in demand physical theatre artists and has been featured in Queensland Theatre Company’s productions of GRIMM TALES and SACRE BLEU, La Boite’s productions of THE WISHING WELL and THE CHAIRS and has received many awards for his work including a Matilda Award for his physical performance in GRIMM TALES and numerous Australian dance awards and nominations.
